THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL BREAST IMAGING UPDATE

INTERNATIONAL BREAST IMAGING UPDATE

February 13-15, 1998

x-ray mammography, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging,
and newer imaging modalities

The International Breast Imaging Update (IBIU '98) represents a new concept in medical education and is planned for February 13-15, 1998 at the Allgemeines Krankenhaus (AKH) in Vienna.

The international faculty, consisting of recognized imaging and breast disease experts, will provide a comprehensive programme of plenary lectures, seminar and workshop sessions covering the important facets of detection and diagnoses of early breast cancers and benign conditions.

The modern facilities at the Allgemeines Krankenhaus will accommodate up to 600 registrants with a capacity for a technical exhibition displaying the latest products.

To date, X-ray mammography, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging have been successful in delineating breast pathologies, however the potential roles of newer imaging modalities based on displaying different tissue parameters are undergoing evaluation in an attempt to provide images with greater diagnostic accuracies. IBIU '98 will concentrate on the role of imaging modalities in disease detection, and promote recent developments of clinical value in breast imaging.

This is an important event in the international calendar of meetings devoted to breast disease, and the programme structure has been selected to clearly demonstrate the optimum utilisation of imaging modalities when challenged with the detection and diagnosis of early breast disease.

The programme is designed to provide an update in breast imaging techniques, interpretation criteria and interventional procedures, and all participants will benefit from the experiences of an outstanding international faculty.

A number of societies and organizations are endorsing the IBIU '98 meeting, and Continuing Medical Education credits will be available to registrants complying with the attendance requirements.
Details of endorsements and credits are listed separately.
