IBIU '99, 15 - 17 October, 1999

Invitation

Dear Colleagues

We would like to invite you to participate at the Second International Breast Imaging Update, IBIU '99, at the new Konzerthaus in Freiburg, Germany in October of 1999. The modern meeting facilities, within a few minutes walk to the old part of the town, provide a unique setting for conferences and conventions. The historic town and its position as the capital of the Black Forest makes Freiburg one of the most desirable tourist destinations in Germany.

The meeting is organized by the International Breast Ultrasound School (IBUS) in conjunction with the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, and the interdisciplinary programme consisting of an expert international faculty, plenary lectures, interactive workshops and a comprehensive technical exhibition represents a proven concept in medical education which was extremely successful during the first IBIU meeting held in Vienna the early part of 1998.

IBIU '99 is an important event in the international calendar of meetings devoted to breast disease, and provides the basis for a unique forum to contribute to present knowledge in the utilization of breast imaging for the early detection, diagnosis and treatment of patients with breast disease. The programme structure has been selected to clearly demonstrate the optimum utilization of imaging modalities when challenged with the detection and diagnosis of early breast cancers and benign conditions using both conventional imaging such as X-ray mammography, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging as well as newer techniques presently undergoing evaluation.

With the endorsement of both national and international medical societies, and the support of the industry, the meeting opens the door to greater co-operation in the attempt to provide better clinical solutions for the early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with breast disease. Continuing medical education credits will be provided by the national accreditation bodies, and the provision of a book containing concise manuscripts of the presented materials will set a high standard of education amongst international events devoted to breast disease assessment.

We would like to invite you to Freiburg in 1999 to attend this comprehensive programme which will provide an update in breast imaging techniques, interpretation criteria and interventional procedures, and in particular to take advantage of the exceptional opportunity to benefit from the experiences of an outstanding expert faculty.
